AI and I
Artificial Intelligence has burst into the software development space. What will the impacts be on how we develop software? How will AI enable people who understand application development but are not programmers? I think these people, people like me, will be able to use AI to develop working software programs and true, viable products. So, I am going to try and prove it.
Proof will take the form of a commercial phone app. The idea for this app comes from a friend who works in the customer problem domain. He will serve both as a domain user and client.
My career involves writing code. Earlier in my career, I built a web app for investigators in a clinical trial to record adverse events. I've written a CLI at Atlassian using Java for a side use case. The list goes on, as nearly every product team or company I've worked with requires me to test with, modify, or write examples.
I'm not a programmer and have never claimed to be.
What I do like to do is build experiences. Documentation, like a software application or a film, is an experience. I will try to see if I can build an experience with AI.
Anyway, started this project and am excited to try it. My education and work as a User Interface Developer early in my career means I know how to rock out an old-school UI spec. I've used Figma in the past, so I'll use that (or similar) to build an interactive sample for my client friend as a starting point.
Look for updates here in the future.
